The exhibition opened on January 8, 2013 at the headquarters of the John XXIII Foundation for Religious Studies in Bologna. The event took place in the library of Studies, which is considered among the most important research centers in religious matters in Europe.
Professor Alberto Melloni, director of the UNESCO Chair in Religious Pluralism and Peace Studies (established in 2008 at the University of Bologna), praised the initiative of the Sultanate of Oman and its Ministry of Religious Affairs stressing the need for dialogue between religions and mutual understanding.
The inauguration ceremony was particularly distinguished by the presence on the Italian side, of representatives of the city of Bologna and the province of Emilia-Romagna.
Bologna University, whose library has nearly one million volumes, is the oldest university in the West. As an indispensable reference center in European culture, the University has trained illustrious intellectuals and researchers in humanities since its creation in 1088.Bologna January 2013
