The mission of the United Nations in Vienna was home for the first time of the activities related to the exhibition “Oman: the modern era” that highlighted the multifarious aspects of religious tolerance in the Sultanate of Oman. This is the first event of its kind to be organized by an Arab state in the hall “Rotunda” of the headquarters of this major international organization. Over 70 delegates from many countries and organizations, as well as members of the Omani-Austrian Alliance took part in the opening ceremony. The exhibition aimed to raise public awareness of the various cultural and historical aspects of the Sultanate of Oman and its experience in the field of reconciliation of peoples and the strengthening of the coexistence of different communities, notwithstanding differences in cultural or religious order. All these elements were amplified in the DVD documentary, produced in eight languages, and entitled “Religious Tolerance in Oman”, which was screened at the same time.Vienna, July 29 to August 12, 2011
